Gum disease can affect patients of all ages and although it is a common dental problem, with good dental hygiene and proper professional dental care, it is preventable. Many patients who have gum disease don’t even realize it because they don’t initially experience any pain and by the time they are aware of the problem they can be in danger of severe consequences like losing teeth. Even if you have been diagnosed with gum disease, in its early stages it can often be stopped from advancing further and occasionally can be reversed.
We want to keep your smile healthy and beautiful now and in the future. With the help of your dentist and their team, preventive care is your best defense against dental disease and other dental conditions.
Keep your mouth healthy with regular dental care including:
- Regular cleanings and exams

We can customize your cosmetic dental treatments to suit your needs.
- Fillings and Re-contouring
At times teeth can not be restored through restorative dental treatments and dental surgery or an extraction is required. Dr. Elkerton prides himself on the quality of care for dental surgery procedures. His pre and post-surgery instructions ensure that your procedure goes smoothly and your recovery is quick. Please contact the dental office for more information on surgical dental procedures.
Dental implants are designed to mimic natural teeth, having a root which is fully integrated into the jawbone and a dental crown for a natural look. To create the artificial root, a small titanium screw is carefully placed into the jaw bone. This process is complete when there is no more relative movement between the titanium screw and the jawbone. Once the artificial root is secured to the jawbone, a dental post is used to secure a dental crown for a seamless and natural tooth restoration. Whether you want to restore one tooth, or all of your teeth, dental implants will give the best results every time.
X-rays are a part of your regular preventive dental care. They are a great diagnostic tool to help your doctor determine if there are any dental problems that need addressing. These problems can often not be visible during a routine dental exam and can only be shown through x-rays, which is what makes them so important to include in your routine dental exams. Dr. Elkerton will customize your x-ray exam to ensure the number and frequency of x-rays are kept to the minimum necessary to properly diagnose your treatment needs.
- Digital X-rays
- Digital Panoramic X-rays
- Velscope: Screening for any unusual growths or lesions in your mouth is routinely carried out by both your hygienist and Dr. Elkerton. The Velscope is a device that aids in the evaluation of any unusual findings and can sometimes pick up abnormalities before they are evident clinically.
